Hey Ayeshah. I was wondering where you went. It is true. As harsh as it seems. I do not think I can add to what Ralph said, other than reiterate so I won’t. It’s hard to push away these facts. I am not a supporter of Benazir Bhutto and her democratic approach. What I was looking forward to was the secular government and if she would actually repeat her history this time around. I was almost finding it entertaining to see her run the elections because I expected her to trick the Pakistani citizens and ex-pats again. But now, we’ll never know.

What is really ticking me off is how some of the media…mostly Geo are trying to paint her as some kind of patron saint of democracy!!!! The party itself is not run in a democratic way how can they run a country with democracy. They consider the party and the country as some kind of inheritance… how do you guys feel about the whole Bilawal Bhutto? Zardari, and Asif Zardari now ruling the roost?

It was expected. I had predicted BB would be killed, I just wasn’t expecting it. But the Zardari and Bilawal part was expected. Its toying with people’s emotions. Getting them at their most vulnerable state. I personally have reasons to believe Zardari is the one who got the job done, but there are many other factors which I think may play a role.

Asif Zardari( Scaatland Yaard fame) will not rule the roost for long, there are still elements in the PPP which are sane and would never follow a leader like him. Benazir was flawed in life and tragic in death. I think the leadership of the party should go to someone young and in touch with ground realities like Fatima Bhutto. However i doubt if this is going to happen either as her mother in her great and infinite wisdom has joined PML (Q)

I have met Fatima a few times and she seems sweet enough and well meaning but i fear that perhaps her head has already been tainted with politicial propoganda that has become her mantra without really looking at the situation for herself and seeing what needs to be done. I strongly feel that if the new breed of politicians hope to make any difference and bring the change necessary for Pakistan, they will need to look beyond what their parents have brought them up on….put their education to good use and think for themselves in a just and fair manner….but then… one is also hoping for a Eutopia!

It’s not about leaders, really, Faisal. As I see it is about emotion. Our country was built on an emotional, not an ideological struggle. It’s something one can argue about though. What I’m trying to say is, as disgusting as Zardari is, he has everyone on an exaggerated emotional high, so people are pretty much disregarding his past (this is an assumption).

The problem i feel is in the fact that all we get in the form of politicians are family members of past politicians. Why cannot an average person go into politics in Pakistan? We keep sitting on the sidelines and screaming bloody murder but no one wants to really bring about change by causing it directly.
As for Zardaris past… it will never be disregarded, even if currently he is riding a wave of emotion. In due time his ghosts will come back to haunt him.
