wow… the last couple of days have been filled with nothing but exhaustion… a classic case of too much to do and not enough hours in the day and certainly not enough energy to match the plans one needs to take care of…
Some of you sent me emails about how disappointed you were that I don’t only blog the political…:) well to be honest….I get bored with it sometimes and when one has been doing nothing but talk and hear politics as a constant…i feel good about taking a breather and talking about more banal material…like childbirth hahahahaha… as uncomfortable as that may make some of you feel
But i’m back and i’m in a mood. Which generally is not a good thing. On the last show we talked about something but I don’t know how many people got a chance to hear and react to it… were you aware that the head of the lawyers association or bar, (forgotten what its called) has threatened show cause notices to the lawyers (where the lawyers licences can be revoked)if they don’t join the demonstrations? So if there is any lawyer out there who doesn’t agree with their tactics and doesn’t want to join in their hangamas… he is in danger of losing his livelihood
And this is their version of calling for democracy? In other words… what I am understanding is …if everyone agrees with me…that means we are democratic but if you don’t…you will have hell to pay for it.?? are people seeing through this whole charade and again even by the lawyers…its all about a show of power and politics… not really about freedom of thought and expression. People who believe in a cause will be there…people who don’t…won’t … i hope the lawyers who don’t believe in the cause are brave enough to not join the multitudes who enjoy bashing the police and their cars and court arrest and then scream foul…
my two cents…. now .. ready for you to launch your comments
ayesha Is back with a mushi kinda bang.good to c that we are back on the main agenda that is politics.wow ayesha u r biased when it comes to mushi.ok i agree with u that wat the lawyers are doing is bad but only in a democratic set up ,y do u disagree with the lawyers when the army has been ruling pakistan with the same freakin way U EITHER WITH US OR AGAINST US. ayesha this is what happens when organizations start ruling countries.if the army is doin it y not the lawyers, doctors etc.atleast they have a vision and education benind them.not like a saluting parrot.ayesha this is only the start of a revoilution that will either make or break pakistan.the thing that upsets me is that ppl are doing it for their own selfish reasons.and aesha pls dont say that its not about freedom of thought and expression,it is all about that.giving freedom to the media does’nt mean that pakistan is a liberal country where everyone can speak their mind.u know i think from now on i will call pakistan mushistan or armyistan.b/c that what it really is.if u in the army u have every right to screw pakistan but if not then u r an ENEMY OF THE STATE.i hope that the lawyers are joined by everyother institue of pakistan with only one thing in their minds.SEND THE ARMY BACK TO THE BORDERS WHERE THEY TRULY BELONG.

But Murtaza, this is the hypocrisy of the current movement. NON-Democratic parties telling the Pakistani people what democracy is! This is completely reactionary. You’re subsituting one type of authoritarian rule for another. How is that progress? And then there are the lawyers a lot of whom had made a job out of fleecing poor pakistanis out of money.(my dad was lawyer, used to say never loan/rent something to lawyer, yu ain’t getting it back. lol.) Most of these people, IK and MMA actually would as an ideological issue NOT accept freedom of expression and thought, as liberally as Mushy did in the past few years.
Look I want Mushy to go, and I was never for him when he was in power but that dosn’t mean you say this whole movement is hunky dory when it it reaks of hypocrisy. The poor man has nothing to do with it, its only a battle of interests among the rich. This is no ‘revolution’ its same old same old. The only arguemtn for him going you could make is if some other party according to you is the lessor fo the two evils and thats hardly anything to jump up and down about.

my dear pakistan loving brother i totally agree with what u r saying, and its heartwarming to know that ppl like you r still in pakistan.but my friend i will not call it hypocrisy, its the result of the bad seed that was planted by the army a long time ago.i m not supporting any political parties or institutions here, all i m trying to clarify is that it is the army that is the real evil inside pakistan, forget aout the 2 stupid wars with india, whats done is done(and waisay bhe we lost one of them b/c of our jawans).how can u trust a institution that has done nothing but robbed us for the past 60 odd years.mushi comes from the same line of generals,do uthink he wil make a differnce.IF U DO THAN MY FRIEND 8 YEARS ARE ENOUGH TO TEST SOMEONE.and what freedom of expression has musshi accepted, banning the media,WOW.look my friends its not about supporting the lawyers or mma or imran khan or bb,its about whats best for pakistan.and forget about lesser evil or bigger evil we as pakis need to get out of our sleep and stop supporting all sorts of evil.if u want mushi to go than make sure he leaves, dont compromise my friend as we have comprimised enough.if u go into the history of pakistan who has damaged us more, army or bb and ns combined.who bought bb and ns to power for the first time, dont tell me u dont know that.than y do we blame them for everything,Y ARE WE SO BLIND.it is the way of the army to make us feel that we need them.NO WE DONT.trust me my friend u kik army out of pakistan till the elections and i promise u there will be no BB AND NS.and even if they win this will be the last time(if they dont perform),the ppl of pakistan are waking up,this is the time to change the course of history, lets not think with our brains for once and do what we feel is right for pakistan esp the poor.pakistanis dont need a leader,we are the children of jinnah, was he always into politics.stop depending on these liars in khakis and u will c that there is a BIG HOPE for pakistan without them.

ok… so u do realize we basically in principal all agree… we just have different ways of going about it LOL… substituting one authoritarian rule for another is no solution… as you so rightly said… another comment…Media is free at this point and have been for a few weeks now… the only channel not airing right now is Geo and yes not perfect…there are reasons…not perfect but the rest of media is there and no …there are no restrictions…everyone is basically doing as they please ….atleast as far as Dawn is concerned. The only reason i mention Dawn is because its the only channel i can personally vouch for.
In real Martial law…if you look in history people were dragged onto the streets and flogged or machine gunned down… there was a very interesting article out in one of the foreign papers…(name escapes me right now..sorry) where they talked about this being the most genteel coup… people are out and about…emergency is now being cited to be lifted by the 15th inshallah…he’s taken off his uniform, elections will be held… i am really hoping the EU sends its observers down so as to ensure their transparency….. and if all that happens … i’m hoping that then people will accept the results as they come in rather than the losers screaming foul again.
Democracy means people are free to choose what side they want to stand on. Not feel pressured to choose a side because if they don’t sit on the one everyone is clamouring for… they are made to feel like outcasts….that is not democracy… Even the minority opinions count… the majority have a heavier vote…tháts all..but it doesnt’ take away anyoné’s right to have a different opinion

yes we have the same princples but for me army is the wrong way to get to it.mushi to me will always be that evil the has griped pakistan since zia.ayesha its not about gettin to the principles its how u get to them b/c if u have taken a straight and long path it will b there forever as there will be a system behind it,but what is happening in pakistan, the kind of democracy mushi is supporting, well lets c how it ends.and pakistan has been in emergency since the time ayub took power so lets not wait till the 15.the only way to lift the emergency is to send the army out of the parliments and back to the borders(where they belong).and yes democracy means ppl r free to choose wat they want.DO U C THAT IN PAKISTAN.where pls where.yes if we talk about mushistan than we r in the right direction, then this is the kind of democray we want but not for pakistan.no i refuse to be ruled by a bloody dictator.and y do we think that its a hugh thing that mushi took off his uniform,y do we get impressed by these lil deeds and forget about the bigger evils that come with it.right now mushi has more power than any CAS ever had.so pls stop feelin sorry for mushi.and it was his time to retire or else we all know what happened to zia, generals kill eachother.

I guess we agree. What a bore! Lets go find some naive IK supporters to harass.:D
I hear what you’re saying Murtaza and its interesting that a lot of people are so against military rule that it will be difficult for someone to pull another coup again and be sure that the people will support them. Which is hopefully a long lasting positive from this whole scenario and may mean we are finally progressing. On the other hand my only plea is that we remain constantly skeptical of this ‘movement’ and not get carrried away just like most people did when Mushy first came to power.
/ i am really hoping the EU sends its observers down so as to ensure their transparency….. and if all that happens … i’m hoping that then people will accept the results as they come in rather than the losers screaming foul again./
Well Ayesha Observers don’t really mean anything when it comes to the rural areas(majoiry populaton). There has in the past and is going to be rigging …thats a done deal. The real question is, how much?
Comment by Prophet Ali — December 9, 2007 @ 10:47 pm |
I AGREE WITH U .HOW MUCH RIGGING IS THE REAL QUESTION.
I WOULD LIKE TO SIGN OFF WITH THE FAMOUS WORDS OF LEE IACOCCA (THE CHAIRMAN AND CEO OF CHRYSLER),HE SAID:-
YOUR LEGACY SHOULD BE THAT U MADE IT BETTER THAN IT WAS WHEN U GOT IT.
THIS IS WHAT PAKISTAN NEEDS.

Here is a thought, since you Ayeshah are in unique position as one of our nations talk show hosts. Why not bring someone from the street on your show? someone from the masses… the true sufferers of all this and let them tell the world what they go through every day. Instead of more politicians who just try to pull the same old wool over our eyes.
Comment by faisalk — January 10, 2008 @ 12:34 am |
unfortunately due to a lack of education the politicians have already pulled the wool over most of the “masses” which is why they keep winning in the “elections” no matter what they do or don’t do when they are in power….. Education is the only answer to developing our country and taking it forward…and that will take 20 years to see the results…. its a long term thing… and the longer we take to start it ….the further away those 20 years seem
